Andrea Chiricozzi is Senior Researcher at the Institute of Dermatology, Catholic University - Fondazione Policlinico Universitario A. Gemelli IRCCS, Rome, Italy. He attended medical school at the University Campus Bio-Medico in Rome, Italy, graduating in 2007. In 2012, Dr Chiricozzi completed the residency programme in dermatology at the University of Rome “Tor Vergata” in Italy, where he continued to work as dermatologist at the Department of Dermatology, headed by Professor Sergio Chimenti until 2015.
His scientific activity was further developed at the Laboratory for Investigative Dermatology, the Rockefeller University in New York, NY, USA, headed by Professor James G. Krueger, where he attended as postdoctoral fellow between 2008 and 2012, and as visiting dermatologist until 2015. He was appointed as researcher at the Dermatology Unit, Department of Translational and Clinical Medicine of the University of Pisa, Pisa, Italy from 2016 to 2019.
Dr Chiricozzi’s research interests include skin immunology and inflammatory skin disorders, particularly psoriasis and atopic dermatitis. He has been an investigator for multiple clinical trials testing biologic therapeutics or new oral drugs for either inflammatory skin disorders or non-melanoma skin cancers. Dr Chiricozzi has been author or co-author of more than 80 publications. In 2012, he was honored with the prestigious Leo-Pharma Research Silver Award.
