Kristian Reich is Professor of Translational Research in Inflammatory Skin Diseases at the Institute for Health Services Research in Dermatology and Nursing, University Clinic Hamburg-Eppendorf, in Hamburg, Germany. He is also actively involved in the clinical development of novel therapies in dermatology and, cooperating with Skinflammation®, Hamburg, engaged in national and international medical education. Since 2013, he has also been a partner at the Dermatologikum Berlin, a centre of excellence for dermatology, plastic surgery, and aesthetic medicine.

Professor Reich finished his doctoral thesis in mucosal immunology (summa cum laude) at the Technical University in Munich, Germany, and his Habilitation (PhD equivalent) in skin immunology following his final exam as consultant dermatologist at the Georg-August-University in Göttingen, Germany. In 2003, he was appointed University Professor and Vice Director of the Dermatology Department at the University Clinic Göttingen.

His main research interests include genetic and immunological mechanisms of cutaneous inflammatory disorders and cancer, and the development of new therapies for skin diseases such as psoriasis and atopic dermatitis. Professor Reich has published more than 300 articles in international peer-reviewed journals, including The Lancet, the New England Journal of Medicine, the Journal of Immunology, and the Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology. He chairs the Scientific Committee of the German Psoriasis Registry PsoBest, is a member of the board of ProDerma and the Alfred-Marchionini Foundation, and is a counsellor of the International Psoriasis Council and the International Eczema Council.

Professor Reich has received numerous prizes and rewards including the Herbert-Herxheimer Research Prize from the German Society for Immunology and Allergology (2003), the R.K. Schachter Lectureship (2012), and the Stars of the Academy Award from the American Academy of Dermatology (2016).
