Kilian Eyerich is Professor of Dermatology and Venereology at the Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm, Sweden, and Professor of Dermato-Immunology at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) in Munich, Germany. He studied medicine at the University of Würzburg, Germany, and at the TUM. After graduation, he joined the TUM’s “Medical Life Science and Technology” PhD programme, and also worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Istituto Dermopatico Dell’immacolata in Rome, Italy.
Professor Eyerich’s area of research is the immunology of inflammatory skin diseases such as psoriasis or atopic eczema. His ultimate goal is to improve patient care through the development of innovative diagnostic and therapeutic tools.
Professor Eyerich has received numerous grants and awards for his translational research activities from organizations such as the European Research Council (ERC), the Bavarian Academy of Sciences and Humanities, the German Research Foundation, the Fritz Thyssen Foundation, and the Bavarian Research Foundation. In 2013, he was awarded a Heisenberg Professorship by the German Research Foundation; in 2015 and 2017, he received ERC research grants. Professor Eyerich is Deputy Editor of the Journal of Investigative Dermatology and has authored or co-authored articles in peer-reviewed journals including New England Journal of Medicine, Nature Immunology, Science Translational Medicine, and Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology. In 2019, he was appointed Chair of Dermatology at the Karolinska Institutet.
