Expert bio

Doug Veale is Professor of Medicine, Director of Translational Research, and Consultant Rheumatologist at St Vincent’s University Hospital in Dublin, Ireland. He is also Lead of the EULAR (European Alliance of Associations for Rheumatology) Centre of Excellence for Arthritis and Rheumatic Diseases and Fellow/Principal Investigator at the Conway Institute for Biomedical and Biomolecular Research at the University College Dublin (UCD) in Dublin. He graduated from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (Dublin) in 1984 and earned his MD degree by thesis from UCD in 1992.

Professor Veale’s primary research interests include inflammatory arthritis, novel immunotherapies, and biomarkers for rheumatoid and psoriatic arthritis. He has authored more than 400 peer-reviewed articles, reviews, and book chapters. He is a Fellow of both the Royal College of Physicians in Ireland and the Royal College of Physicians, London.
