Alexander Egeberg is a dermato-epidemiologist at the Department of Dermatology and Allergy, Herlev and Gentofte Hospital, in Copenhagen, Denmark. There, he works in a split clinical–research position, supervising a number of researchers including eight PhD students. He earned his MD degree from the University of Southern Denmark in Odense, Denmark, and his PhD degree in dermatology from the University of Copenhagen in Copenhagen. Dr Egeberg subsequently pursued his dermatology residency and a postdoctoral fellowship at Gentofte University Hospital. He also holds a postgraduate degree in economics from Copenhagen Business School, with a focus on health economics and public health.
Dr Egeberg’s main research interests are in inflammatory skin diseases, particularly the epidemiology of psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, and rosacea, and the development and use of biologic therapies. He has received recognition for excellence in dermatological research and was named a “Future Leader in Dermatology” by the European Society for Dermatological Research (ESDR). He has extensive knowledge in publication planning and clinical trial designs, including explorative/post-hoc analysis of phase 1–4 studies.
Dr Egeberg has been a speaker at more than 50 symposia across the world. He has served as a reviewer of more than 50 articles and has published more than 185 scientific publications in journals such as Journal of Investigative Dermatology, New England Journal of Medicine, Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, and Annals of the Rheumatic Diseases.
