Janneke van der Woude is a full professor Inflammatory bowel disease at the Erasmus MC Rotterdam, The Netherlands. In the past decades she has focused her research on several aspects of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Following her PhD defence in 2004 she built up her research line in IBD, focusing on quality of life, IBD related colorectal cancer, new therapies and personalized medicine. She is heading the IBD clinic at the Erasmus MC serving over 3000 IBD patients.  Together with 3 dedicated IBD nurses, 1 other staff member and 2 trainees the Erasmus MC offers 7 IBD outpatient clinics weekly. For patients with a child wish the Erasmus MC offers a unique IBD preconception clinic. A dedicated outpatient transition clinic “De Luchtbrug” was initiated in order to optimize the transfer of IBD children to the adult department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology. Janneke van der Woude is chief education at the department of Gastroenterology and is currently chair of the Dutch association of Gastroenterology, treasurer of the ECCO and chair of the UEG medical block.
