Adjunct professor Jon Lampa is Head of Gastroenterology, Dermatology and Rheumatology at Karolinska University Hospital/Karolinska Institute. His research group coined the expressed “remaining pain” (Altawil R et al, 2016) and this term is now widely used for describing residual pain after treatment of the inflammatory disease in RA. This research also initiated an implementation of using registry data in the clinic for evaluation not only of continuous pain and fatigue, but also to start identifying patients with high degree of non-inflammatory pain and low benefit of additional biologic treatments. Moreover, prof Lampas research group has used proteomic mapping to identify biomarkers related to pain development and also made important contributions to the knowledge of central nervous pain processing in the context of inflammatory diseases.
